A Day to Remember

I'm marking this day in may calendar...

Quality is hard

This week I've been a team of one. At the same time I'm taking a really hard look at how I can improve my productivity. It's Wednesday, and I've done about a weeks worth of points that a pair would have done. And I'm happy with the level of quality that I've achieved.

The flip side is I'm exhausted. I've been juggling so many things and writing so many notes to keep track of it all. I've got detailed notes of all the work I've done. I've actually slowed down to make sure I was doing a good job of things and found that I've gone quicker. Funny how that works.

Conclusions:

• I've increased the quality of the work I've done and have gone quicker at the same time.
• It's been really hard and I think I'd have to keep working as hard if I were to stay on my own to keep up this level of quality. This is not sustainable. I'm looking forward to working with a pair again (once I've recovered from this).
